If I remember correctly it was Joseph Whelan's writings which taught that the reason we celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December was because of Constantine. Remember "In this sign I will conquer." The cross made into a sword. The problem Constantine was having was the diversity of the beliefs of the people he conquered, so he mixed Pagan with Christian thinking in an amalgamation of sorts he could keep the peace, and because there was already a Pagan holiday in December, he decided to make that Christmas. It's been so long I have forgotten the interesting details but this is the gist of it.

When Delamer Duverus (John 16:7,8, & 13) came to be a constant, conscious empathetic companion He said we are no longer going to celebrate Christmas. He even called it "Commerce Day." Several years later He surprised me and said, "Let's go to the thrift store and gather up the items we will need for a wreath. It was nearing Christmas, but I said we don't celebrate. Nevertheless, we followed His will and found a coiled vine wreath unadorned and set out to find some tinsel and decorations. No, No, No. We went to the artificial plant and flower bin and pulled out a long, green leafy vine and some small, rose colored roses. At home we put it all together. I said, "It looks like Spring!" He said, "Jesus was born in the Spring."

When DD came into our life, He did write us a Christmas card to share with others who sent us ones. It said:

It will be Christmas

when all the Nations of the World

put down their weapons of war

and take care of their Children,

feeding them, clothing them,

sheltering them,

and most of all loving them,

"For such is the Kingdom of God."
