I can compare the German situation you describe almost word for word with what's going on in the Netherlands with Forum for Democracy and the BBB farmer movement. Never forget, fascism and nazism are as leftist a movement as communism. It's only in recent (or modern, if you will) history that they have convinced the masses that these new populist parties are guilty of the very tactics they deploy. We see them for what they are, for a fox may shed its coat, but never its traits. [edited spelling errors]
🗨 Soviet life had always seemed simultaneously eternal and stagnating, vigorous and ailing, bleak and full of promise. Although these characteristics may appear mutually exclusive, in fact they were mutually constitutive. To the people who lived in that system the collapse seemed *both completely unexpected and completely unsurprising*.

This was an absolutely fascinating history lesson of Germany and its politics thank you so much! I wonder what will happen… I think the German people have the strength, the will, and the fortitude to crumble their coalition governments!
In Canada not so much… we have a large so called Conservative Party that has also gained a lot of new supporters. This is largely due to the Trudeau Liberals making life unaffordable through the federal carbon tax for middle class Canadians while the ever growing poor fill up the streets. While simultaneously taking away the possibility of ever owning a home for young millennials with house prices now triple of what they used to be! The Trudeau carbon tax is just a tax grab that everyone can see because we have as yet NO alternatives to drive our cars or heat our homes at present so charging us for using carbon is a joke! This is shocking but I learned the other day that our standard of living has dropped to 30% lower than the US… this is Trudeau’s Canada after 8 years in power.
The Conservative Party leader looks like the controlled opposition, mostly blue Liberal colour with a tinge of red Conservative colour. He doesn’t take a stand on hot topics and is very guided by the opinion polls. We have one true Conservative leader who left the official party to become an Independent but he is also smeared by the mainstream media as a far right radical white supremacist racist etc., as O’Brien says the words lack any form of meaning now and his party is very small. Never-the-less he and his party are whom I am voting for whenever the next election is and I’m happy to report the Trudeau Liberals are finally sinking in the polls. Even all of the new immigrants also being housed on the streets have turned against them as well as the Muslim and Sikh communities for going against their religious beliefs re their children.
The thing is that the AfD is not the underdog but is quickly becoming the most powerful Party here in Germany and they really have Nazi ideology. I am not saying that they ARE ALL Nazis - some of them are and many aren't. But their underlying ideology is the same as that of the Nazis though that's very difficult for people who aren't German and don't know about the specifics of Nazi ideology to understand. But just to give ONE example; Why does the AfD call for "remigration"? What does that even mean?
It means that they plan to basically kick out anyone who is a traditional Muslim and follows the Sunnah literally. And I am certainly the last guy to defend fundamentalist Islam, but do we really want a political Party to dictate what religion "zhe German Volk" is allowed to have and not have? What about those that can't be deported? Guess we would have to put them into ghettos or camps somewhere, wouldn't we?

You know those Germans. If you don’t join their party. They’ll come and get you!
💬 the call to ban the AfD for the ‘preservation of democracy’
↓↓ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ↓↓
🗨 We are in a post-democratic age which retains the language of democracy, only to deploy it for repression.
