Dear Mr Smith,
Things are changing rapidly and so I thought to write to you once again about some of my recent thoughts.
As you know the UK has begun to reform its state-enforced COVID measures in a quick change of approach. It is highly likely, I guess, that this will ripple out into other nations in the near future. Actually it’s an inevitability - as Solzhenitsyn has said, any system built on tyranny must eventually collapse on itself. Now the question to be raised is this - were government mandates the manifestation of the full intention of the state, or merely an act?
What has become evident to many is the absurdity of recent events. At least to you and I and a number of friends, it does seem absurd, although we all know of others who believe it’s all been reasonable attempts at keeping us safe. It seems we are witnessing an unprecedented attempt to demoralise an entire world population.
While I must admit that the capacity for governments to roll out such a stringent set of state mandates on a synchronised global scale is impressive, it is also worth highlighting the almost psychopathic nature of what we are witnessing. Could it merely be that the leaders appointed are incredibly incompetent? Or could it be that what we are seeing is not the end of the matter?
Mr Smith, I believe we may be sitting on the edge of a razor between two extremes. The first is what I believe is a deliberate attempt to organise a revolutionary class. Many have suggested that the leftist intelligentsia which are openly hostile to Western civilisation are this class, but after a broader analysis it seems as though the real revolutionary group will be the average displeased (disenfranchised, suppressed, controlled) Westerners who have resentment for their government. This can be exploited (as we are already seeing) by further separating the individual from his culture, to the point where the entire nation and culture is seen as something so corrupted that the only viable solution is to burn it down.
ON MARXISM
It is important to clarify, as I’m sure you are aware Mr Smith, that the end result of any Marxist doctrine is to create a revolutionary class. The best way to do this has been stated explicitly by practically every well known Marxist thinker - by making people unhappy.
For example Herbert Marcuse said this could be achieved through a mass awakening of the Western population to ‘the lie’ - the lie that every enjoyable thing is merely a façade specifically designed to keep him docile by the corporate elite who will inevitably continue selling him these products. The only way to break free of this lie is through revolution and the transcendence into utopia. After all - as Marcuse would put it - life doesn’t exist before the revolution!
So what do you think? Are we living the lie? Do we need the revolution? I think, as with many well engineered socialist ideas, the majority of its truth exists outside of observable reality. Marcuse’s full truth only comes into existence once someone has read it, and that existence is within the readers head. It’s an abstraction. And indeed, a lie in and of itself. Outside of his head, and before reading Marcuse, he would have found little problem with the life he lived.
ON FASCISM
However, what if the Western world does not organise itself into a revolutionary force? It is equally possible that a ‘saviour’ figure could emerge if a power vacuum were to form following a revelation of widespread misconduct by the overlords.
I believe the stage has already been set. Like 1920s Germany, there is no shortage of chaos and absolute disregard for order. What the crowd needs is a leader. Such a leader would act as the voice of the peoples collective unconscious. After all, this is how Hitler structured his early speeches to gather a following; by listening to the crowds reactions. If the crowd didn’t respond to a particular statement, he would change topics until the people did respond and then he rode the wave. In doing this, he was in essence not a single man with a singular motive, but a spokesperson for the German peoples collective desire.
It seems that there is an important distinction to be made between the Nazi’s and their dictatorship contemporaries of the 20th century. Unlike the Chinese Communists, or the Bolshevik revolutionaries, who were a small fighting force against a majority of pacifists or anti-communists, the Nazis managed to gain almost universal support from their population. Why such success?
It is not too much of a stretch to claim that the primary attraction of fascism may be ‘absolute order’, while the attraction of Marxism is ‘absolute chaos’, however one important point to consider is the populations preexisting state. If a population lives in chaos, it may be more likely to swing towards order, and likewise if a population lives under absolute order, they will eventually want to break out of it.
On top of this, Fascism offers another unifying factor which is often overlooked or completely disregarded by Marxists, and that is the reintegration of hero mythology into the public mind. The psychologically attractive ideas relating to the heroes journey, that which has been ‘lost to the past’, is reintroduced. The population is portrayed as the rising hero struggling against an enemy.
There is no shortage of chaos at this point in time. The population is primed for a shift.
A SHIFT OF FOCUS
Regardless of what happens with the current law changes in the UK and elsewhere relating to COVID, I am almost certain that this will not be the end. This merely marks a pivot point from one issue to the next.
As of writing this, there is already a re-emergence of climate change related stories - which for the past year has been largely ignored - on mainstream news outlets. This, yet again, comes as no surprise to some.
Global warming is a huge topic in itself. At its core, it is a religious set of axioms which subtly emerged in the late 1960s alongside Herbert Marcuse’s writings. However it was not until the late 1970s with the rise of post-modern thinkers such as Michel Foucault that ‘environmentalism’ became a revolutionary point. This is important to realise, as environmentalism was seen as not only a ’social’ or ‘political’ axiom of power, but a revolutionary issue of ‘survival’.
NEUTRALISING THE PENDULUM
Now the real question is; how do we leave this eternal struggle behind us? Is it actually possible to craft a future in which extremist thinking in the forms of bloodlust and revenge are pacified?
It could very well be that the pendulum must keep on swinging from one extreme to the other. That certainly seems to be the case throughout human history. It may simply be a byproduct of human nature; we oscillate between centuries of pacifism and extremism, but all the while the pendulum moves from one side to the other.
Despite all of this, I believe that there is a way for us to remain true to ourselves, those around us, and ultimately the world. I don’t mean to present what may sound like a globalist ideal, but rather a worldview in which each individual is offered justice and understanding. The West had this figured out in the past, perhaps we can understand each other this way again.
Mr Smith I believe as we move forward we must not allow ourselves to be blinded as the pendulum swings. But rather be aware that there are dark pathways we must traverse in our individual and collective journey toward the light. It seems we are on one of those dark paths right now, and indeed at a crossroad. The deceit continually presented before us is the lie that has remained eternal. Truly there is nothing new under the sun. We must rely on a higher sense of being that is more stable and resilient in the face of political or social change. We should be aware of the axioms, yet stable; unbound by materialistic rationalism, yet uncontrolled by emotion. We must remain unswayed.
I do hope this letter finds you in good health, and in good spirits, as far as that is possible in these days.
Kind regards,
O’Brien
An interesting read O'Brien. It's made me wonder what you make of some commentators and analysts suggesting that the 'vaccination' issue is a sideshow towards the vaccine passport's end which in itself is a milestone which leads to financial, and other controls. The real goal being total control of the human population. Perhaps, we could chat about this at one of the London coffee houses.
Thank you O'Brien once again - I do enjoy your letters. I've always thought there's a bigger agenda than a virus or our health. We've never seen such a coordinated effort of a psychological operation on the people of the planet (with the exception of China, who seem to have their own separate psych op at work on their people). It seems to me that we are being led into a type of surfdom under the tyranny of a technocratic class of rulers, who think we, the common people, are neither smart enough nor rich enough to have a say in how life is lived. In fact, I believe they want most of us to go away, so they can live a good life on the planet without their delusional paranoia that the masses are going to doom humanity through overpopulation. There seems to be elements of Marxism (some very strong currents that have gained momentum throughout the last 100 years) and Fascism - both of which carry the hallmarks of dictatorial power, fierce suppression of opposition, and regimentation or homogenisation of society where the individual no longer exists. I agree we are at a crossroads, or quickly coming up to one, and it will be more than interesting to see in which direction we turn!
