“Gradually it was disclosed to me that the line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained. And even in the best of all hearts, there remains ... an unuprooted small corner of evil.
Since then I have come to understand the truth of all the religions of the world: They struggle with the evil inside a human being (inside every human being). It is impossible to expel evil from the world in its entirety, but it is possible to constrict it within each person.”
“If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?”
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago
And here is the great problem that goes hand-in-hand with another great cry of Solzhenitsyn, “Man has forgotten God”. It is a truism that “we are all in this together”, but not as the propagandist uses the phrase as a coercion tactic, but in the sense that we are all human with the same fundamental flaws.
Yes there are some “evil people somewhere committing evil deeds” and we could destroy them, but only to see new ones spawn in their place if we do not address the evil in our hearts. Some say history repeats itself because human nature remains the same. This is likely true but not inevitable if we are brave enough to address the evil in human nature, and as Solzhenitsyn says, “constrict it within each person”.
I've thought about this a lot over the past two years. While I point out the vile natures of Fauci, Gates et al to friends (mostly all former now), I always think of what line I would cross if I were guaranteed 20-30X my investments. Playing some thought games with myself, I can't say I'm always proud of what I see.
While on the earth we must forgive them... afterwords however. For we are all always here, and when the veil has lifted will they be able to forgive themselves? I doubt it.
Quite true Winston, so many have forgotten God and quite a few others seem to think they are God.

If there is one thing this whole shit show has taught me, it is humility
