“We laugh that we may not cry.”

Expand full comment

That's right, in such times we need to laugh now and then.

This is just satire right???? I was reading and laughing my head off. And then I thought... wait. Is this real??? You know. Nothing they do today would surprise me at all. But this absolutely can not be real. Love the part about the mom who said she was happy she now knew playing sports caused her sons heart attack!! We laugh but there are people out there who would actually believe their 16 year old dropping g dead has nothing to do with the vaccines. It must be something else!! Anyways. Great article!

I did not notice the dates til the end. You had me going there!!

Telling that you have to double check though, no?

I did hope that the article dates, and the languages the paper was written in would be dead giveaways of satire, if not most of the other paragraphs.

Just goes to show how insane the world is becoming.

I wrote somewhere last year that the plandemic crazy had killed satire - satire just couldn't keep ahead of it - maybe I was right.

Good one. More likely that parents would suffer a heart attack after being asked to read "One Fish, Two Fish" for the 18th time in 24 hours. ;-)

Yes! LOL - I've been there, albeit many years ago, with all of Dr Seuss.

When you start recounting the stories in your mind when driving to work, you know you've passed a certain threshold in your mind!

Nice work, Winston. I think you scooped The Babylon Bee 😂

Years ago, in another life, I did write satire. So thought I'd get that old bike out again and see if I can still ride it.

Love some of the Babylon Bee stuff!

Grew up with Monty Python, The Goodies, et al. Not much like that these days.

Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, MST3K - yeah, loved them and looked forward to every show and indulged in re-runs frequently. The Bee is deliciously satirical and I do believe you are on par with them if this piece is comparable to other stuff you've written.

Loved it, Winston. Will link it as usual @https://nothingnewunderthesun2016.com/

Probably not that far-fetched!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for linking!

I do worry that satirical works are giving "the powers that be" some dangerous ideas.

The saying that "1984 was a warning not an instruction manual" is a case in point - amazing that it actually needs to be pointed out (satirically I realise, nevertheless it cuts very close to the truth).

Hilarious. I needed a laugh! Thanks!

You're welcome Jenny.

Well, we can't argue with the science. It is all proven scientific facts, with references and studies....only a fool would disagree with a single word of any of it. At the end of the article, they show they even have ability to go into the future and sign and date their findings, and then come back to our time. With that kind of technological expertise at their disposal, I certainly can't argue with any of it.

Very good my dear Winston. I too needed a good laugh. I particularly enjoyed spotting the 'almost' jabs, like poor Mr. Hoodwinled.

I did hope someone would pick up Hoodwinled and Stupie - there's a bit of that going around these days ;-)

Can I kill these lunatics, pleeeeese?

Oh... satire... what a relief.

Expand full comment

Satire, yes. A relief? Not really.

Today's satire is tomorrows reality.

You are right, of course, Winston; it's just that I extort every concievable element of mirth from every possible situation. I figure laughing is the softest way to land, even if I turn out to be the biggest joke. Even that prospect makes me laugh.

A similar study by Johns Hopkins found that the only thing more dangerous than sleeping is getting out of bed, though that seemed not to be a problem for those who had to go to work. In fact the workplace has been proven to be the only place where sudden death is not a problem.
